A lithium battery protection PCB is a dedicated integrated circuit board developed exclusively for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. The inherent chemical characteristics of lithium battery materials determine strict operating limits during charge and discharge cycles. Lithium cells cannot sustain overcharging, over-discharging, over-current, short-circuit conditions, or ultra-high temperature working environments. Without effective monitoring, abnormal operation will cause permanent performance degradation and potential safety hazards. For this reason, lithium battery packs are mandatory to be equipped with matched protection PCBs integrated with sampling resistors and current protection components for real-time operating status monitoring.


Core Protection Functions

  1. Overcharge Protection
    When charging with a certified standard adapter, the protection board will activate the overcharge protection mechanism automatically once the cell reaches the rated cut-off voltage. It disconnects the charging loop to prevent continuous overvoltage charging and avoid cell aging, bulging or thermal runaway.
  2. Over-Discharge & Short-Circuit Protection
    In the event of instantaneous positive and negative electrode short-circuit or deep over-discharge caused by excessive load, the protection circuit will quickly cut off the discharge loop to isolate abnormal faults. After the short-circuit risk is eliminated, the battery can restore normal charging performance.
  3. Over-Current & Abnormal Short-Circuit Protection
    The protection board supports rapid response to abnormal current surge and accidental short-circuit faults. It limits output current and locks the circuit within a safe range. After external wrong connection or short-circuit faults are cleared, the battery can resume stable charge and discharge through standard charging equipment.
