Maxipcb provides highly mature, volume‑stable double-sided printed circuit board solutions. With cost-optimized manufacturing control, we deliver economical and reliable PCB products to support customers’ end‑product market competitiveness and large-scale commercial deployment.
Double-sided PCB is an essential and widely adopted circuit board type in the electronic manufacturing industry. Its diversified product lineup covers metal base double-sided PCB, high‑Tg heavy copper clad PCB, flat winding high-frequency double-sided board, universal high-frequency PCB, and mixed dielectric high-frequency double-sided PCB. Thanks to excellent electrical stability and structural adaptability, these boards are widely applied in high-tech fields including telecommunications equipment, power supply systems, computers, industrial control systems, consumer digital hardware, laboratory teaching instruments, medical devices, automotive electronics and aerospace equipment.

Substrate & Manufacturing Process

Double-sided PCBs primarily utilize epoxy glass cloth copper clad laminates as standard core materials, which are well suited for high-performance application scenarios such as communication facilities, precision analytical instruments and industrial computing hardware.
Mainstream industrial manufacturing workflows for double-sided boards include conventional line etching, hole plugging, dry film masking, and pattern plating & etching. Among them, the pattern plating and etching process has become the standardized mainstream route for stable mass production.

Prototyping and Surface Treatment Technology

For double-sided PCB prototyping and small-batch verification, multiple mature surface finishing processes are available to meet diverse assembly requirements, including rosin protection, OSP, hard gold plating, immersion gold and immersion silver.
  • HASL (Hot Air Solder Leveling): Features neat surface appearance, uniform tin coverage, outstanding solderability and cost advantages for general mass production.
  • Immersion Gold: Ensures long-term surface stability and oxidation resistance, specially applicable to IC bonding and high-precision packaging assembly scenarios.

Structural Differences Between Single‑Sided and Double‑Sided PCB

The core structural distinction lies in trace distribution and interlayer conduction. Single-sided PCB only arranges conductive circuits on one single layer, with limited routing space and design scalability. In contrast, double-sided PCB deploys independent circuit traces on both top and bottom layers. Metallized vias are adopted to achieve reliable electrical interconnection between two sides, effectively improving wiring density and design flexibility.

Process Characteristics of Double‑Sided PCB

In addition to conventional cutting, exposure, etching and routing processes, double-sided PCB manufacturing adds critical metallization procedures such as electroless copper deposition and electroplated copper. This specialized copper deposition process realizes stable conduction between upper and lower layers, which is the key technical difference that distinguishes double-sided PCB production from single-sided boards, and also guarantees the overall electrical performance and structural reliability of finished boards.
