Magnetic coil PCB is a specialized functional circuit board designed for built-in winding structures, mainly adopted for inductive component integration. It delivers prominent advantages including high machining precision, stable linear performance and compact structural design. Restricted by traditional manufacturing limitations, however, magnetic coil PCBs face complex production hurdles and relatively high mass production scrap rates.

Magnetic Coil PCB Testing Methods

Professional performance testing is an essential procedure to guarantee the reliability and yield of magnetic coil PCBs. Maxipcb summarizes standardized detection solutions for different application types as follows:

1. General Induction Coil PCB Test

For conventional inductive coil circuits, an LCR digital bridge is used for online inductance detection. Since inductance coils normally operate at medium and high frequencies, the test frequency shall be set above 10kHz to ensure accurate and effective inductance data measurement.

2. Transformer Magnetic Coil PCB Test

The D factor of the transformer primary coil inductance serves as a core indicator to judge inter-turn short-circuit faults. During testing, configure the digital bridge with output voltage ≤ 0.3V and test frequency ≥ 10kHz to sample the inductance D value. A measured D value higher than 0.1 indicates internal damage to the transformer coil, making the product ineligible for assembly.

3. Hall Sensor Magnetic Coil PCB Test

Hall devices are classified by power supply modes (single power supply / dual power supply) and signal output types (current output / voltage output) with distinct testing criteria:
  • Single-power Hall sensors: The output voltage is stably maintained at half the supply voltage under zero-current state. Obvious deviation from the midpoint voltage value denotes abnormal device performance. Quantitative parameter testing can further confirm sensor damage.
  • Dual-power Hall sensors: The output keeps zero voltage without induced current. When current is detected, positive and negative output voltages change synchronously with the magnitude and direction of induced current to realize normal signal feedback.

4. Relay Magnetic Coil PCB Test

Relay modules commonly suffer from coil open circuits, contact failure, excessive contact resistance and contact burnout. The most intuitive and effective verification method is live power testing. Rated voltage is applied to the magnetic coil circuit, and the on-off continuity of relay contacts is inspected to comprehensively evaluate the overall working performance.
