1. Overview of Rogers RO4000 Series High-Frequency Circuit Materials

Rogers RO4000 series high-frequency circuit materials are glass-reinforced hydrocarbon and ceramic-based (non-PTFE) laminates, specifically designed for performance-sensitive mass commercial applications. The core design concept of the RO4000 series is to balance superior high-frequency performance with low-cost circuit manufacturing, resulting in low-loss materials that can be processed using standard epoxy/glass (FR4) manufacturing processes—greatly reducing production costs while ensuring reliable performance.

2. Detailed Introduction to Rogers RO4003C Laminate

RO4003C is a patented hydrocarbon resin system reinforced with ceramic fillers and woven glass cloth. Its electrical performance is very close to that of PTFE/glass cloth materials, while its processability is comparable to that of epoxy resin/glass cloth materials, enabling flexible structural design for diverse application needs. The RO4003C laminate is available with two types of glass cloth—1080 and 1674—all of which meet the same electrical performance specifications, ensuring consistent performance across different structural configurations.
A key advantage of RO4003C is its compatibility with standard epoxy/glass cloth processing technologies, which allows for strictly controlled dielectric constant and dielectric loss. Compared with traditional microwave materials, RO4003C offers significant cost advantages, with its price being only a fraction of that of conventional microwave materials. Unlike PTFE-based microwave materials, RO4003C does not require special through-hole pretreatment or additional operating procedures, simplifying the manufacturing process and improving production efficiency.
It should be noted that RO4003C material is non-brominated and therefore does not meet UL 94V-0 certification requirements. For applications or designs that require UL 94V-0 fire rating, Rogers RO4835™ and RO4350B Gamma laminates are recommended as alternative solutions to meet the fire safety requirements.

3. Application Scenarios of RO4003C Laminate

RO4003C laminate is widely used in the following fields, leveraging its excellent comprehensive performance:
  • High-reliability aerospace applications: Suitable for aerospace electronic equipment that requires stable high-frequency performance and reliable operation.
  • Various typical and unconventional microwave/RF applications: Covers a wide range of high-frequency scenarios, providing stable signal transmission support for different types of microwave and RF equipment.
