1. Overview of Rogers RO4003C High-Frequency PCB Material

Rogers RO4003C is a high-performance high-frequency PCB material based on a patented hydrocarbon resin system reinforced with ceramic fillers and woven glass cloth. It integrates the advantages of excellent electrical performance and easy processability—its electrical properties are highly close to those of PTFE/glass cloth materials, while its processability is comparable to that of epoxy resin/glass cloth materials. This material offers diverse structural configurations to adapt to different application needs: RO4003C is available with two types of woven glass cloth, 1080 and 1674, and all structural configurations comply with the same electrical performance specifications of the laminate, ensuring consistent performance in batch production.

2. Processing Advantages of Rogers RO4003C

A key highlight of RO4003C is its excellent processing compatibility. It can be manufactured using standard epoxy/glass cloth processing technologies, which not only ensures strictly controlled dielectric constant (DK) and dielectric loss (DF) but also features significant cost advantages—its price is only a fraction of that of traditional microwave materials. Unlike PTFE-based microwave materials, RO4003C does not require special through-hole pretreatment or additional operation procedures, which greatly simplifies the manufacturing process, reduces production costs, and improves processing efficiency. Additionally, it is compatible with lead-free assembly processes, meeting the environmental requirements of modern electronic product manufacturing.
In terms of electrical performance, RO4003C maintains stable and reliable parameters: the dielectric constant is 3.38±0.05 (measured at 10GHz, 23°C), and the dielectric loss factor is 0.0027 (measured at 10GHz, 23°C), making it one of the low-loss materials in the Rogers RO4000 series, suitable for high-frequency applications up to 40GHz.

3. Certification Note & Alternative Materials

It should be noted that RO4003C material is non-brominated, so it has not obtained UL 94V-0 fire rating certification. For applications or designs that require UL 94V-0 fire rating, Rogers provides alternative high-performance laminates: RO4835™ and RO4350B Gamma. Among them, RO4835™ has excellent oxidation resistance, stable electrical performance similar to RO4350B, and meets UL 94V-0 fire rating requirements; RO4350B Gamma also complies with UL 94V-0 certification, which can fully meet the flame-retardant safety needs of related applications.
